Who we are
SponsorMap is an independent directory of Australian companies accredited to sponsor skilled workers on employer-sponsored visas. The platform is operated by an individual based in Australia. For questions about this policy, use our contact form.
What information we collect
We keep what we collect to a minimum. Most of it is information you give us directly, such as your email address; where we record something automatically, we say so below.
Contact form submissions
When you submit a message through our contact form, we collect your name, email address, and the message you write. This information is sent directly to our email inbox and is not stored in any database. We use it solely to respond to your enquiry.
Saved sponsors (favourites)
When you bookmark companies, this information is stored locally in your browser using localStorage. It never leaves your device and is not accessible to us.
Data corrections
If you submit a data correction, we collect the content of your suggestion and, optionally, your email address if you choose to provide it. This information is stored in our database and used to review and improve the accuracy of the directory.
Email updates
When you sign up for sponsor updates, we store:
- Your email address — to send the updates you asked for, and the confirmation email.
- Your occupation, or that yours isn’t on our list — to understand which occupations our readers work in and to decide what our updates cover.
- The language you used on the site and the page you signed up from — to email you in that language and to see which pages people subscribe from.
- The country you signed up from, worked out automatically from your connection at the moment you subscribe. We keep the country only — not your IP address, city or region — and use it to understand, in aggregate, where our readers are.
Every email includes an unsubscribe link. Once you unsubscribe, we stop emailing you. If you would like your details deleted entirely, contact us.
Clicks on outbound links
When you follow a link from SponsorMap to a partner's or a listed professional's website, we count the click in aggregate, recording only the page and language it came from, never your IP address, device details or any cookie.
What we do not collect
- ✓We do not use tracking cookies or advertising cookies.
- ✓We do not use Google Analytics or any third-party analytics platform.
- ✓We do not combine your subscription details with your browsing activity or with data from other sources, and we do not use them for advertising.
- ✓We do not sell, share, or rent your information to third parties.
- ✓We do not require you to create an account to use the directory.
Cookies
SponsorMap does not use tracking or advertising cookies. The only cookie used is a strictly necessary session cookie for the admin panel, which is only active when an administrator is logged in.
Because we do not use non-essential cookies, we do not display a cookie consent banner. If this changes in the future, this policy will be updated and a consent mechanism will be added.
Hosting and infrastructure
SponsorMap is hosted on Vercel (San Francisco, USA). Vercel may collect standard server logs including IP addresses and request metadata for operational purposes. These logs are subject to Vercel's Privacy Policy.
Australian Privacy Act
SponsorMap is operated in Australia and is committed to handling personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).
You have the right to request access to any personal information we hold about you, and to request that we correct it if it is inaccurate. To make such a request, use our contact form.
Data retention
Contact form submissions are retained in our email inbox for as long as necessary to respond to your enquiry, after which they may be deleted. Data correction suggestions are retained in our database indefinitely as part of the audit trail for directory accuracy.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The date at the top of this page reflects when it was last updated. Continued use of SponsorMap after any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
